Email

Tom grew up in north Tacoma, about three blocks from the University of Puget Sound, just three blocks from where his mother grew up in 1915. As a child he rode his tricycle around his father’s office desk in the basement of their home while his Dad worked to grow the business. Tom began learning insurance terminology around eight years old and started assisting with his father’s files at age 14. During his college years at the University of Washington, Tom majored in Risk and Insurance. He spent his college summers meeting with clients and entered the family business full-time in August of 1965. He now has over 49 years in the insurance business. “It has been a great career,” he said. Tom enjoys the opportunity to help clients understand their insurance needs, to calm their financial concerns, and even more importantly, to help with any claims that might develop. Basically we are only selling peace of mind. To the extent that we can assure our clients that they have the proper coverage at a proper price, he feels he’s met his goals and objectives. Tom is not a specialist in any one particular area of insurance but takes pride in being well versed on all insurance coverage. More particularly, he can help clients analyze their risk to find what risks they wish to either insure, assume, or avoid. “I’d say that is my specialty, helping with that analysis.” Tom enjoys water skiing, running, and hiking, especially when the sun is shining. He and his wife recently celebrated 45 years of marriage and are proud parents and grandparents. In his spare time, Tom volunteers on boards for the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties and MultiCare Health Systems. Each month, he also takes photos for Kiwanis “Terrific Kids'” elementary school program as well.

She resides in Pierce County now. In search of a better job than being a waitress at a small café, at 18 years old Peggy visited the office next door which happened to be an Independent Insurance Agency. In 1979, Peggy earned her Property/Casualty agents’ license. Then in 1996, she became a Property/Casualty Broker. Peggy has been in the insurance industry for 44 years now. Her primary focus has been property and casualty insurance for commercial and business clients. “Every day is different and challenging in a new way in the Insurance Industry,” she says, “keeping it fresh and interesting. My first love is helping others and by being an insurance interpreter, as I often refer to myself, is one way I do that.” Peggy enjoys camping with her husband and his horses. Whenever possible, they visit with their 16 Grandchildren. Family is very important to Peggy. In her spare time, you may find her cooking, crocheting or reading a good novel.

Jessie McKenzie

CPCU
Commercial Lines Account Manager

 Email

Jessie joined our team in December of 2014 after moving with her retired army husband to twenty acres outside of Roy.  Jessie brings 19 years of insurance experience along with over a dozen in commercial and professional coverage.  What she likes best about insurance is how it protects business owners against a catastrophic loss that could put them out of business.  “On one hand insurance is an expense.  On the other hand it transfers risk away from the business—and that provides peace of mind.”  Jessie actually enjoys reading those long insurance contracts and figuring out how best to meet the needs of each unique business. Jessie earned her Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and then went on to finish a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington and a Master’s Degree at Seattle University. When not working on insurance Jessie volunteers as at the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center as a chaplain.  She is also an avid bicyclist who has ridden the Seattle to Portland Ride in July six times.  She is working on biking over two hundred miles in one day.
